Officers from Riverina Police District have been notified of a number of vehicles that were broken into around Glen Estate, Currawong Road and Bottlebrush Streets.
Police believe a number of unlocked vehicles – parked on private property - were entered and searched for valuables.
Officers are seeking assistance to identify a man - described as being aged in his late teens or early twenties with a skinny build - depicted the image who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
Officers are also reminding the community to lock their cars and not to leave items of value in their vehicles or on display. Simply locking your car can be a good deterrent to an opportunistic thief.
Police from Tumut, together with Cootamundra Target Action Group and Highway Officers are conducting regular patrols of the area and request members of the public to contact Tumut Police Station on 6947 7199 or Triple Zero (000) if they see anything suspicious.
