About 25 construction workers have been on site each day to bring down the 18 cottages with the project set to be completed by the end of next week.
CSU’s project planning officer Emma McCormick said it has been a “good” project that will be finished by the time semester one commences.
“From our perspective, this project has happened at a good time, before students arrive on campus,” Ms McCormick said.
“For those students who will live on-campus, most of the destruction will be done prior to them arriving.
“It will be a good outcome for a fresh start to the new year and older assets off the campus will really create better appeal for staff, students and visitors who come to the campus.”
Former residents of the cottages farewelled their homes last year and many said it was a “bittersweet” moment as they shared fond memories, but their expiration date had come.
