The intricate and delicate field of Interventional Radiology appealed to Doctor Himanshu Pendse since he was in medical school.
“I was in my third year of medicine when I was exposed to this exciting field of radiology,” Dr Pendse said.
“Doing procedures through a keyhole access has always caught my eye.
“I was fortunate to get through training in this sub-specialty of interventional radiology.”
This field of medicine involves doing minimal invasive radiological procedures under image guidance.
The radiologist is then able to read and interpret images to diagnose patients and perform a range of procedures.
“Radiology many years back involved only reported radiographs however medical advancements have widened the horizon of this branch,” Dr Pendse said.
“At the same time, improvements in procedures under imaging has made interventional radiology, a vital part of medical and surgical management of many diseases.”
“As an interventionalist, I always strive to do what is the best for my patient.”
Dr Pendse joined the team at Imaging Associates in January this year after moving from Perth with his family.
It was his unique skill set which saw Imaging Associates recruit him.
Today he works at the Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital as a Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist (IR).
Dr Pendse was first attracted to medicine for the challenge and the ability to help people.
“After high school, I was always very keen to become a doctor,” he said.
“Apart from being a challenging field, it has a role in helping the community.
“I hope that my expertise is of help to the Wagga community.”
Imaging Associates business development manager Glen Dean said the team are thrilled to have a new doctor on the team, especially one as skilled as Dr Pendse.
“We are very excited to have Dr Pendse joining our team,” he said.
“His skill set will be of great benefit to the already extensive depth of knowledge and experience within our team.”
“Imaging Associates is a full-service medical imaging facility and is proud to be servicing the Wagga hospital.”
