Spackman has opted for the group two Breeders Classic (1200m) instead of a race at Canterbury on Friday night.
The $150,000 Country Championships heat (1400m) at Albury on February 23 is the goal for Takookacod, who has not raced since her sixth placing in the Wagga Town Plate (1200m) last May.
“I’d like to give her a good hit out,” Spackman said.
“She’s got to get 1400 and she’s had a long time off since her colic surgery. I’ve done everything I can with trials and jump outs to get her spot on.
“The group two was always there but we wanted to look at it and if it was too tough we wouldn’t go. It’s tough enough but we’’ll have a crack.”
Takookacod has trialled twice in the lead up to Saturday’s first-up assignment. There has been little between her, Forever Newyork and Lady Mironton in the trials, finishing third and second respectively.
Rachel King will take the ride on Takookacod.
Spackman’s other Country Championships contender, the defending SDRA champion, O’ So Hazy, will trial at Albury on Friday.
She will tackle the Albury heat first-up.
