South Wagga Public School year 2 teacher Adam Barclay said he “enjoys” coming back to school and was looking forward to seeing his students “smile”.
“I love getting to know a new bunch of kids and finding out what they like and meeting new parents and getting to know the school community a little bit more as the kids go through the years,” Mr Barclay said.
Mr Barclay has entered his eighth year of teaching and his third year at South Wagga and said he was “not at all” nervous returning to the school gates.
“I spent a few weeks of the holidays preparing and getting the classroom sorted and trying to work out what we were going to teach and different ways of teaching,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to getting some professional development in teaching too.
“I like routine and coming in at certain times because otherwise I can get a little bit lost.”
Mr Barclay’s colleague and year 5/6 teacher Jessica Dillon also waved the nerves and was eager to get back into the classroom.
“I was excited to come back this year as I was in a new classroom and I knew the kids as I’ve taught them when they were younger,” Ms Dillon said.
“I was excited to come back and see them and get them into their routine and also see how their holidays were.
“We work here as a team and all get involved and organised together and share the work load and I just love this job, so I wasn’t nervous at all.”
