Just after 4pm on Sunday, a brief but destructive storm blew through the city while Mr Oldaker was performing a set on stage at the Boomerang Hotel.
“When the storm rolled in, the crowd stopped paying attention to me, and started watching the storm,” Mr Oldaker said.
“Then the storm passed and they started paying attention to me again. But when I took a break, I looked out and saw I’d brought the house down. Right onto my car.”
A structural facade on the front of the building had become dislodged during the 20 minute storm.
It caused around $15,000 worth of damage to Mr Oldaker’s jeep, crushing in the bonnet, and shattering the front left headlight.
“I took it down to the smash repairers, and it’s not a write-off, so yay,” Mr Oldaker said.
As no passersby were injured during the incident, Mr Oldaker has walked away from the situation with only insurance paperwork and a good story.
“I’m telling everyone, a pub fell on my car,” he said.
