A Wagga retiree became $200,000 richer yesterday after a surprise win of a lottery draw.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the news came as a shock.
“I’m very, very shocked and so incredibly happy,” she said.
“I never thought I would win this much.”
The win coincided with the woman’s birthday on the same day she received the news over the phone.
“This has made a great start to the week. It is my birthday today too! What a great birthday present,” she said.
The woman’s husband also expressed his happiness with the win.
“She is such a deserving person. She definitely deserves this win, without a doubt,” he said.
“Our family and friends are here now – it’s great we get to celebrate this win with them.”
The money will go towards a new car and Australian holiday according to the winner.
“I want to buy a new car, a 4WD for our caravan – our car is over 20 years old,” she said.
“We want to do a big caravan trip around Australia and now we can.”
