After beating the Ovens and King, Tallangatta and District and Riverina leagues in the past three years, Hume has the opportunity to claim another scalp.
Officials are keen to reappoint coach Brent Piltz and plan to speak with the former Henty and North Albury premiership player in coming days.
“It’s been a while since we have played Farrer so I think there will be a lot of interest in the game,” league president Brendan I’Anson said.
“We have achieved some good results in recent years and hopefully we can build on that.
“Brent has done a terrific job and we’ll be having a chat soon about his plans.
“We’d love him to coach again.”
Hume and Farrer haven’t met since 2008 when they were part of the country championships format.
Seven-time Albury star Joel Mackie played for Hume on that occasion with Shannon Gilson coach.
Under 14 and 17 football and netball will also be played on May 18 with Wagga’s Robertson Oval shaping as a potential venue.
“It will follow a similar format to recent years with a big emphasis on juniors and volunteers,” I’Anson said.
“We see that as very important.
“The netball is also a really big part of the day.”
Hume will hold its league launch in February.
Meanwhile, the Hume league has re-affiliated with AFL NSW-ACT for another 12 months.
There had been speculation the competition could align with AFL NEB.
