Last year’s Futsal Cup not only saw dedicated girls teams for the first time, but also girls teams knocking off boys teams.
All-female outfit Fusion Damage FC were particularly strong throughout the tournament and ultimately took out of the under 12 final, downing ARTL Strikers 6-1.
Other winners included under 10 division champions ARTL Drillers and under 14 division victors Mayhem FC.
Wagga Futsal president Sam Gray was thrilled with last year’s installment and will be looking to bring in even more towns and teams into this year’s edition.
Wagga sides will be particularly strong given their players’ recent form for Country NSW at nationals.
Competition kicks off next Saturday at 9am and runs all weekend, wrapping up around 4pm on Sunday.
