Seven of the Country Club’s junior members travelled to Newcastle last week for the state finals.
Wagga Country Club went down to Northern Rivers District Golf Association in the semi-final, 4-2.
It was always going to be a tough task for Wagga with four of the six players having to give over 11 shots.
Will Johnson won seven and six, while Rory Aragon fought back strongly to win three and two.
Wagga then grabbed third spot with a victory over home club Newcastle District Golf Association with a 4-2 win.
Johnson, Will Burkinshaw, Max Jenkins and Ryley Watson all grabbed wins. Watson’s came courtesy of a play-off.
The group also took part in the Newcastle Junior Classic, played in tough conditions, but Burkinshaw shone to take out runner up nett score on a very trying day.
