Rising junior star Elijah Dikkenberg was fortunate enough to attend the Australian Open men’s single quarter final between Canadian powerhouse Milos Raonic and electric Frenchman Lucas Pouille.
Even better, Dikkenberg was given the honour of the coin toss before watching Pouille dispatch his fancied opponent 7-6(4) 6-3 6-7(2) 6-4 at Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday.
While neither were Dikkenberg’s current favourite on the court – that honour remains with Domenic Thiem – the 10-year-old nevertheless enjoyed the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Coin toss duties aren’t the only reason Dikkenberg is in Melbourne with the Wagga junior enjoying some game time of his own.
He’s been taking part in the National Super 10’s Series after almost clinching the under 10s title in Sydney with NSW Country during the Sydney International earlier this month.
