The Blues are holding a special reunion over the weekend of February 16 and 17 with Blues of the past coming back to Wagga.
Coach Joel Robinson expects it will be a big weekend for the high-flying club, who are currently on top of the ladder.
“We’re getting quite a bit of interest and hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will get a little more interest,” Robinson said.
“It is good to see the old blokes showing they are still interested and I’ve received quite a few messages from guys who have moved away but still keep on eye on things.
“It will be a really good celebration for the club, be good for everyone to catch up and also for the current group to see their is still a passion for the club among the old guys.”
With over 50 years of involvement at the club Max Knight is certainly among those with a passion for the club.
After joining South Wagga in his early 20s, Knight fulfilled various playing and administration roles, including almost two decades as secretary, and still rarely misses a match.
“I joined them in ‘62 and they were a struggling club then,” Knight said.
“I was 22 and about the sixth oldest but after a few years we got it together and I’ve mainly stuck with them because of the mateship.”
All grades play in the Bolton Park precinct with South Wagga to tackle Kooringal Colts at Robertson Oval in first grade.
A barbecue will be at the ground before the anniversary dinner at the Rules Club after the day’s play.
There will then be reverse draw on the Sunday.
