Jon Nicoll was pleased to do enough to ensure a home final against Cootamundra on February 10.

“It wasn’t a pretty sight but we were able to get the job done in very unusual circumstances,” Nicoll said.

“A lack of pitch preparation assisted the day.”

Wagga bowled Goulburn out for 103, but were in real trouble before some lower order from Nicoll and Aaron Maxwell was enough to remain undefeated through the three rounds of the competition..

Nathanael Mooney was the pick of the bowlers with 4-17 off seven overs.

Nicoll, Maxwell and Lachie Skelly also picked up two overs.

After coming up short in last year’s decider, Nicoll is hoping for a winning end in what will be his last representative match.

“We should have our best side available, which will be good,” he said. “Hopefully we can win the final as it will be my last rep game ever.”
