In another one-sided contest, Greg Daniel’s side restricted Temora to 122 and chased down the total through Jack Craig (60 not out) and Brendan Simmons (31 not out) in 23 overs.

Craig hit five boundaries and four sixes.

One of the Wodonga batsman’s towering sixes hit a tree on the Gordon Street side on the ground which saw a branch fall onto a car.

Daniel said it was a pleasing performance with Temora applying pressure at different stages of the match.

“Today was probably our toughest game,” Daniel said.

“Their two opening bowlers bowled well and then Simmons and Craig, who are our two in-form batsman, took over.

“I don’t think they gave a chance.

“’Craigy’ hit some really big sixes and ‘Simmo’ is obviously batting unbelievably well.

“It was a good win.”

Temora, who won the toss and batted, started brightly with veteran Peter Stimson topscoring with 38.

But the CAW attack soon got on top with Craig (3-15) and late inclusion Haydyn Roberts (3-33) doing the damage.

Roberts came into the side for Matt Crawshaw.

“Temora’s top six batsmen looked pretty good and we were lucky to get through them and knock over the tail quickly,” Daniel said.

“To our bowlers credit, they kept things tight.”

CAW lost openers Kris Milosta (five) and Sam O’Connor (19) to Temora and Lavington paceman David Tassell before Craig and Simmons seized control and coasted to victory.

Tassell finished with 2-30 off six overs.

CAW will now play Young at Les Cheesley Oval on February 3.

Coached by Daryl Tuffey, CAW started its winning run against Holbrook at Holbrook and has since beaten Ardlethan-Barellan and Temora.

It has received forfeits from Cootamundra and West Wyalong.

CAW’s biggest test is expected to come against Wagga in the final round of the O’Farrell Cup in February.
