Harpley has trained winners in feature races across the country but success in his hometown feature has proved elusive.
He’s been placed in three of the last four cups including an unlucky third with Roll One Over last year.
The last start winner and the resuming Rubies For Tash line up in separate heats of the feature on Saturday night.
Harpley is chasing a change of luck.
“Rubies is a chance from the draw as I think Therockwontroll looks a chance of leading,” Harpley said.
“Roll One Over is going better than Ruby but he will need a lot more luck.”
Rubies For Tash wasn’t a certain starter but after a trial win last weekend and good work during the week Harpley decided to put the group one performer in the mix.
She was almost sold to US interests while out spelling before a change of heart.
Both have drawn the second row.
There are three heats of the feature after almost a decade of being a standalone race.
