Love Bites, directed by Mel Donges, is set to be the first production of the year.
“Love Bites is combination musical and revue where the performers tell seven different stories of love and romance,” Ms Donges said.
“The themes are modern with a strong sense of comedy.
“The cast I have handpicked are amazing and dedicated and will tackle multiple roles.”
Members of the cast are Iain Wright, Leah Ellis, Dominic Hort, Tim Phillips, Jessica Brodie, David Downey, and Ms Donges. Musical director is a newcomer to Wagga, Hannah Caterer.
Directing for the first time, Ms Donges said she is loving the experience.
“The best thing is this show is totally brand new to Wagga,” she said.
“It’s contemporary, really relatable and almost everyone has been in a relationship whether it has ended badly or well.
“You can something of yourself in those characters and situations."
Fay Walters, marketing manager, said they wanted to open the 160th year of the School of Arts with modern performance.
“It’s a young, energetic cast to open this year,” she said.
“To marry this with the 160th anniversary is really exciting because we need young people to have another 10, 15 or even 20 years.
Ms Walters said for 160 years, the School of Arts has been a place where residents have been able to take their creative dream and make it a reality.
“People would walk in the door and throw in their lot,” she said.
“I know now, the theatre has become a midway down the chart when it comes to choices, but developing arts keep the creative energies of everyone alive.
“I believe that we drive our organisation at our audience to be entertaining to meet the demographic in Wagga.”
Love Bites show opens on February 3, 2019, with shows every Sunday at 3pm and at 7.30pm.
“Wagga School of Arts have a brilliant idea for a Date Night to celebrate Valentine’s day, with a two for one offer for the February 10, evening performance,” Ms Donges said. “So get in quick.”
