1. Check out the local art scene
The gallery will be open every Saturday from 10am to 3pm in Small Street. i
Open Studio Gallery, previously Art on the Levee has relocated the exhibition to their gallery in Small Street, Wagga.
Do not fear because every Saturday morning you can mingle with the artists, experience the artworks and purchase their painting.
2. Cool off around the region
If there’s one thing Australians know, it’s how to cool off when a stinking hot summer rolls around.
As temperatures continue to soar around the Riverina, we’ve compiled a handful of great destinations that will get you out of the house and into a splash.
Some are just around the corner, some require a bit of driving – but think of the time spent in the car air-conditioning. Bliss.

3. Head out for a jog
Saturday from 8am to 11am starting from Apex Park, Lake Albert.
Waggga Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed five kilometre run or walk that takes place at hundreds of locations across Australia.
No matter your age or fitness level, parkrun is for everyone, so get your runners ready.
Wagga parkrun is made possible thanks to Medibank's Free + Active program which aims to tackle inactivity and support community connection through free, social, community-based activities.
4. Head to the markets
Wollundry Saturday Markets – Saturday 8am to 1pm at the Civic Precint.
Held at the Civic Precinct around the beautiful Wollundry Lagoon in the heart of Wagga. Come down and enjoy a walk around the lagoon and then enjoy all the markets have to offer.
With over 30 stallholders, including a variety of food purveyors, including a variety of fruit 'n veg and homewares there is much to choose from. You can grab a great egg 'n bacon roll and a hot cuppa while you're here.
5. Summer Reading Club: Curious Creature
Young people encouraged to read as many books over summer to keep their brains active, January 4–January 31.
From real creatures to the imagined, actual to mythological, microscopic to megafauna, and Australia’s marvellous marsupials to all the classification of Animalia in between, this summer children and young people will be encouraged to explore and connect with a curiosity of creatures.
If you are in primary school, head into the Wagga Wagga City Library for your free Summer Reading Showbag.
