Teams from The Daily Advertiser, Junee Southern Cross, Eastern Riverina Chronicle and Cootamundra Herald will be bringing you all the action across the region this Australia Day.
From the big breakfasts to the official ceremonies and all the barbecues, thong tosses and swimming sessions in between, you’ll get a taste of all the latest from today’s shenanigans right here.
Community breakfasts are kicking off from 7am in some places, while communities in others are having a bit more of a sleep-in on this first day of the long weekend.
In case you missed it, Wagga’s Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year were announced last night at an emotional ceremony. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and thank you all for your service to the community.
Yesterday also saw not one, but two people named Australian of the Year. If the names Richard Harris and Craig Challen are only vaguely familiar, you might remember them better as the men who played pivotal roles in the daring rescue of 12 young boys and their coach from a flooded cave in Thailand.
