At 6.09am, Turvey Park Fire and Rescue attended the scene of a burnt out car with one unit at Glenfield Park near Fernleigh Road.
A spokesperson said it took about 20 minutes to extinguish the flames that had taken over the vehicle that had been driven into the middle of a playground.
At 6.21am, two units responded to a second blaze at Veale Street, which took 30 minutes to contain.
Reports on social media showed the smoke from the fire billowing above Ashmont.
The fires erupted on a day that is forecast to hit a scorching temperature of 45 degrees in Wagga and a total fire ban has been put in place.
