Wayne Sullivan is looking for a change of luck as he chases elusive MIA Breeders Plate success.
The Leeton trainer has lined up plenty of strong hopefuls in his hometown feature, including the favourite in the final three years ago, but is yet to breakthrough for a win.
He’ll line up two hopefuls in the heats on Friday night.
Gee Gee Blinxs is in the first heat with her stablemate Harry Croft in the second.
Both qualified at Coolamon in good time, but Sullivan rates the filly as the better of the two.
A well bred filly, by Bettors Delight out of group one performer Just A Bit Sassy, she is a half-sister to group one placed Cee Cee Ambro, who is close to resuming for her three-year-old campaign.
However Sullivan isn’t getting caught up in the Leeton feature, believing there are plenty of other good targets later in the season.
“They seem to think that the Bettors get better and I hope they are right,” Sullivan said.
“We will just see what happens and just poke along with her as she’s APG eligible and all that sort of stuff.
“Whatever she does now is just education.”
Gee Gee Blinxs has drawn the same heat at favoruite The Tiger Army.
She’s come up with barrier seven and will be the only two-year-old to start on the second line.
Gee Gee Blinxs won her qualifying trial while Harry Croft was run down while leading in another.
Sullivan expects he’ll take plenty of benefit.
“The colt has only had the one trial and got a bit tired the other day,” he said.
“He got setback three or four weeks ago when he got a temp and little bit of a virus so he’s probably really not ready for it but might as well go around than go to the trials.”
He expects barrier one will be a big help and expects improvement if he can qualify for the final.
However Sullivan is far from confident in a race he’s had very little luck in.
He’s treating it like any normal race.
“I’m over it,” Sullivan said.
“It’s just like going to the trials for me as I’ve had enough of the Breeders Plate.
“It’s never done me any favours for years.
“I’ve had a lot of favourites over the years and for one reason or another things go wrong.
“They do things wrong or get crashed out in the first corner.”
The first of the two heats will be run at 9.03pm with the $30,000 final to be held on January 25.
