Yoogali coach Luke Santolin said he had approached his Sharks counterpart, Mitch Tinnock, with hopes of arranging a trial against “strong opposition”.
“I guess we were just looking through our pre-season schedule and we thought a great place to start might be the Football Wagga champions,” Santolin said.
“We’d love to be able to test ourselves against them.”
The match would represent a rare coming together of inter-league premiers and Santolin said he would welcome the prospect of future games being played in that mould.
“It would be a fun concept but we’re just looking at a trial at the moment – it’s just about preparation for us.”
Tinnock said he had been in contact with Santolini and was interested in hearing more about the proposal.
