The 10-year-old tyro enjoyed his best season to date on the junior tennis circuit last year, sweeping through the Temora Junior Development Series tournament before picking up two medals at the NSW Closed Championships in December.
The doubles gold and singles bronze clearly wasn’t enough for Elijah, who decided to turn things up a notch with a dominant display at this week’s Margaret Court Cup in Albury.
Elijah stormed through the under 10s singles field, charging into the grand final where he saw off Ryan Tinworth, who also picked up a silver medal in the under 10s doubles, to claim the Matt Roberts Trophy.
Roberts himself was there to present the award to Elijah, who has since departed for Sydney.
He’ll be taking part in the junior division of the Sydney International and representing NSW Country from Thursday onwards.
