The women’s Wanderers junior contingent will contest a state-wide pre-season tournament in a bid to boost their NPL credentials ahead of their debut season.
Director of women’s football, Gary Lyons, said the club had pencilled in Bathurst’s Proctor Cup as a key date in March.
“It’s a really big tournament that we’ve attended in the past and done reasonably well at,” Lyons said.
“It’s a Football NSW event, so there’ll be lots of strong Sydney teams and other good regional sides coming along.
“I think it could be a great trial run for us.”

The senior squads are also starting to find their feet with Lyons confirming pre-season fixtures against Woden and Riverina.
“We’re hoping to get a pre-season round of sorts across Junee and Cootamundra,” he said.
“Those clubs have been very good to us and it’s great that they’ve agreed to host for us.
“It’s not set yet but we’re hoping to have a big squad go up and play in that event.”
Lyons was pleased to report strong numbers at training over the pre-Christmas block but said there were still opportunities for new players to enter the fold.
“There’s a few positions we’re looking to fill and we haven’t quite sorted out firsts and reserves yet, so there’s still time for new players.”
