Wagga’s Josh Mills top scored in the Bradman Cup win over Western at Albury on Monday.
He made 79 for the under 16s side as they finished their 50 overs at 9-244.
Mills and fellow Wagga batsman Blake Walker (33) put on a classy 93-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
After making 69 at the top of the order, Albury’s Coby Fitzsimmons then snared four wickets in the 43-run win.
Meanwhile a five-wicket haul from Jordan Rhodes helped knock off defending champions Western in the Kookaburra Cup.
Chasing Riverina’s 7-180, Western looked in good shape at 3-101 before Rhodes turned things around to help them run out 39-run winners.
Newcastle is next up in the Bradman Cup on Tuesday while the Kookaburra Cup team tackles Central Coast.
