Wagga sprinter Fermanagh Lad enjoyed one of the biggest wins of his career at Moruya on Monday.
The Chris Heywood-trained gelding claimed an all-the-way victory in the $35,000 Moruya Town Plate (1200m).
Fermanagh Lad ($3.90) was ridden to victory by in-form apprentice Chris Williams and scored by a length from $2.40 favourite Leami Astray and Tiger By The Tale ($10.00).
Heywood also finished third and fourth in the $40,000 Showcase Maiden (1010m) with Prose N Cons ($31.00) and Who Told Ya ($41.00).
Wagga jockey Michael Travers also enjoyed success at the meeting, winning the Class Three Showcase Handicap (1650m) on Ardanza ($15.00).
Fresh from his first metropolitan winner last Friday, Gundagai’s Billy Owen enjoyed a big day out.
Owen took out the $50,000 Moruya Cup (1425m) on the Matthew Dale-trained Animalia ($4.40).
It was the second leg of a winning double for Owen, who was also successful aboard Garros ($19.00).
