Trainer Geoff Duryea and connections farewelled the seven-year-old this week after a 37-start career that resulted in $158,000 in earnings.
Greipel won eight races, including the 2016 Snake Gully Cup at Gundagai with Blake Ryan in the saddle. That was the horse’s last victory.
He also won on Wagga Gold Cup day in the same year, as well as a $30,000 race at Bendigo.
The son of Snitzel had his last start in the Deniliquin Cup in October.
Meantime, Duryea’s exciting filly, News Girl, made a winning return to the racetrack at Albury on Saturday.
She led all the way to take out the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 58 Handicap (1175m) by 2¾ lengths, with Blaike McDougall in the saddle.
News Girl now boasts two wins from three starts.
