The former Wagga cyclist has enjoyed a charmed three-month spell since November last year, earning a gold medal at the fourth round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Germany before successful stints in Japan and Tasmania.
The latter proved particularly fruitful with Scott defending his Fulton Hogan Tasmanian Christmas sports carnival Criterium Cup title in December.
He bounced back from an early fourth placing in the opening race in Westbury with wins in Ulverstone and Burnie to claim overall gold before heading back to Melbourne where he successfully defended his St Kilda Super Crit crown.
“It’s been pretty busy few months,” Scott said.
“After Berlin I was in Japan and then Melbourne and Tassie and back again - all over the shop really.
“It was good being back in Tassie and getting a few wins there, I like racing down there.
“Then last weekend was pretty good for me too, so I’m happy with how things are going.”
Scott was a dominant figure during the recent Road National Championships in Ballarat, claiming placing third and fourth in the under 23 men’s criterium and road race respectively.
Despite his disappointment at not being able to defend his 2018 title, the 21-year-old said he was pleased with his efforts.
“I went into the criterium wanting to defend the title but we had a team mate (criterium runner up Kelland O’Brien) up the road who we were really riding for,” Scott said.
“He just missed out in the end which was kinda sad but it was still a good team performance and I was pretty happy to break away from the bunch and take third.”
An improved showing in the under 23 men’s road race was also cause for celebration.
“We had a team mate up ahead again but I managed to sprint it out at the end for fourth, which was pretty surprising considering I wasn’t expecting to get over the hill – I didn’t even finish the road race last year, so fourth is much better.”
Now, Scott will turn his attention to track racing in earnest with places on the Australian team for Tokyo 2020 up for grabs.
His best shot of qualification will be in the team pursuit - an event in which he has already proved himself in the global stage.
“We’ve got a training camp in Tassie coming up as preparation for the next world championships leg in Poland.”
“Tokyo’s definitely on the horizon and it’s going to be my main goal to qualify for that.”
