A passer-by made the gruesome discovery in the shell of a white Nissan Tiida on the Cobb Highway near Booligal, north of Hay, around 8am on Sunday morning.

Murrumbidgee Police District officers attended and established a crime scene at the location.

The remains were examined and will undergo forensic analysis as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death continue.
