The Cowra trainer lines up five of the eight greyhounds in the feature race after quinella two of three qualifying heats last month.
He rates Hide The Kitty as his best chance of taking home the $1600 first prize.
“It’s got the best box out of the lot of them,” McDonald said. “Of the better of the two chances, between it and Take The Apache, it has the better box.”
The meeting was set to be run last week, before the heat forced a postponement.
It meant McDonald made the trip south in vain, but is hoping for luck to be on his side this time around.
Especially after a big night to qualify the quintet.
“It was one of those nights where everything went right,” McDonald said.
“One of those nights weren’t far off as we hadn’t been having much luck.”
The Leo Hartley Memorial is another feature of the night but the field is down to seven Armand Bale’s scratching.
