NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Fire and Rescue NSW personnel joined together to battle the fire, which was listed at advice level on the RFS Fires Near Me platform shortly after 12pm, at the airport precinct.
“The fire is currently being brought under control and there is no risk to property at this time,” the RFS Riverina Zone advised on its Facebook page.
“This is a timely reminder to be vigilant.”
The fire came as temperatures soared past 38 degrees at the Forest Hill Bureau of Meteorology field office, adjacent to the airport, and on a day where the mercury is predicted to hit 42 in Wagga.
