After being part of the Thunder squad since the start of last year, the Wagga teenager took advantage of her opportunity on Wednesday.

“It was pretty incredible,” Trenaman said.

“I’ve been on the sidelines for a good year and a half, nearly two now, but fully aware of how strong the team is – it is an incredibly hard one to break in to.

“The way that I got in it was pretty unfortunate that one of our best players, Rene Farrell, was ruled out through injury, but it is lovely to pick up a couple of wickets on debut.”

It didn’t take the 17-year-old long to make her presence felt after removing Australian star Ashleigh Gardner with her third delivery.

She then snared South African captain Dane van Niekerk to finish with 2-11 off her four overs in the eight-wicket win.

The Kooringal High School student certainly exceeded her expectations.

“I didn’t have a great lot of expectations playing some of the best players in the world in the Sixers side, I just wanted to enjoy myself out there,” Trenaman said. 

“It was an incredibly surreal experience and it was a bonus to collect a couple of wickets.”

While there was plenty of personal satisfaction, Trenaman was also thrilled to play her part in an important win in the side.

“To get back to winning ways this past game was fabulous after losing a couple of close ones over in Perth,” she said.

“It wasn’t never nice travelling five hours over to the other side of the country and coming back with no points, but yesterday there was a big focus on our strengths and making sure we are setting ourselves up for the last couple of games then hopefully into the finals.”

The Thunder have a double header against Melbourne Stars in Sydney this weekend.

Trenaman is part of the squad but a final decision on the side will not be made until Saturday.
