Police Acting Inspector Phil Malligan said that a man and woman, both 24, were arrested after allegedly assaulting and hindering police, as well as failing to leave the vicinity after being directed to do so.
“A licensed premise in Baylis Street excluded a person from the premise due to their intoxication,” Inspector Malligan said.
“That person was then requested by the police to leave the vicinity.
“As a result of them refusing to leave, they were arrested by police.
“While arresting the male, police were set upon by a 24-year-old female.”
Both were given bail and are set to appear at Wagga Local Court on February, 20.
Inspector Malligan reminded residents to celebrate their summer holidays responsibly.
“Certainly New Year’s Eve and Christmas are times to celebrate,” he said.
“Police are all for people to be able to celebrate but you need to do it responsibly.
“Unfortunately, there’s always a minority that sometimes bring themselves unstuck and, as a result, police need to intervene.”
