Burns was last month reelected to the top post with Sue Davis a new addition as junior coordinator and the former is keeping a weather eye on the social scene.
“The summer comp has been great actually – it really just runs itself and once you’ve set it up, it goes pretty smoothly,” Burns said.
“We’ve got a fair few regulars who get down there for a game and it’s a good social thing to do as well.
“A lot of players like doing a bit of stuff like futsal over summer but there’s still those prefer to pull the boots and play on real grass.
“Hopefully a few more people can come down and we’ll get a good turnout when (South Wagga’s) pre-season gets going.”
Burns said that while there had been no active recruitment from the Warriors over the off-season, the club is open to new players as it looks to improve across the men’s and women’s competitions.
“I actually haven’t been around much over the break but I think we’ll see some people coming in and getting involved.”
“I think we’ll be improving next year, definitely.”
Burns also weighed into soccer’s ongoing player registration debate, offering his support to the Council of Club’s successful motion to remove dual registration.
“Yeah, I back the council’s decision there and I think it all comes down to trying to grow the Wanderers and make them the best team they can be.”
Warriors will kick off their pre-season later this month under former Wanderers star Ben Holt, who was brought into the fold in October last year as head coach.
