A development application was submitted to the Wagga City Council last week for the removal of fuel infrastructure at a non-operational site.
The site is a former fuel depot containing above ground tanks, covered above ground tanks, fuel delivery and vent lines, hazardous materials and disused sheds.
According to the develop application, proposed works would also include the removal of infrastructure and environmental investigation works to include installation of additional groundwater wells, groundwater and soil sampling.
The site is located on the Old Olympic Highway and the proposed works are expected to take five weeks.
Uranquinty Road is closed at the northern end and acts as an access road to the site and land around it.
The Daily Advertiser contacted Caltex Australia for comment but they did not respond to calls.
