“Come to Bethlehem” is a Christmas event for all of the family, being held by the West Wagga Catholic Parish in the grounds of Holy Trinity Primary School.
Father Gerard Ryan said history is built around the birth of Jesus and there is so much more to the story than the classic nativity.
“To pass through the “City Gates”, visitors must complete the Roman census,” he said.
“We put it on because it’s a tradition.
“We have three little babies who represent baby Jesus and their mothers are Mary.”
The event has been running for 15 years, seeing more than 33,000 people walking through the gates said Father Ryan.
“People can take their time and walk through,” he said.
“The point of this is to remind us that Jesus is important and the reason to celebrate.
“We wish everyone peace and happiness.”
Father Ryan invites the Wagga community to come, take a step back in time and celebrate.
It will be held on Saturday, Sunday and Monday night between 8pm and 9.30pm in the lead up to Christmas.
