High readings of both blue-green algae and enterococci, a bacteria caused by faecal matter in the water, were once again present when the latest test results were returned.
The council began a 12-month ultrasound technology trial last Friday in a bid to combat the blue-green algae, but says no results are expected to show before six weeks.
However, it is understood that technology is not proposed as a solution for the faecal bacteria, which flares up after storm events cause animal droppings to run into the lake.
Testing conducted last week showed the faecal bacteria readings had dropped from high levels to low levels, but Thursday’s results confirmed the problem had flared up once again.
Under the National Health and Medical Council Guidelines for managing risk in recreational waters, alerts are issued based on the median of the past 5 samples.
