Six of Wagga Swim Club’s most promising athletes - Kade Knight, Jamie Mooney, Lillian Holtorf, Natalia Horsley, Brandy Nicholson, and Emma Nielsen - took to the big stage with aplomb, competing in 24 events in total.
14-year-old Knight had the biggest workload, competing in the 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle as well as the 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley and notching four PBs.
All eyes were on 17-year-old Nicholson though as she cruised through the preliminaries in the 200m breaststroke, eventually going on to claim seventh in the final with a PB swim.
Nielsen also recorded season best times in her three events while Hortlof was a big improver in the 100m butterfly.
In his first ever state meet, Mooney was impressive with PB in the 100m butterfly before smashing the minute mark in the 100m freestyle.
In her review of the championships, Wagga Swim Club’s Jenny Nicholson issued a big thank you to all the coaches and families for their support throughout the meet.
