The men’s premier grade grand final is anyone’s game with The Casuals and Advanced Communications Cobras set to lock horns at Jubilee Park on Tuesday night.
The Casuals will head into the big dance full of confidence after ripping through the regular season undefeated – but it would take a brave punter to write off the Cobras.
Andrew Baggio’s side have the best record of any other team against The Casuals, recording a 10-7 loss in their first clash before holding the minor premiers to a 3-all draw in the final round.
The key to victory will no doubt fall to whichever side converts pressure into points and The Casuals have certainly done that so far.
Ably led by the likes of Daniel Foley and Tyson McLachlan, The Casuals average more than eight tries per game while conceding less then six per game and got the free pass to the grand final after dispatching Quolls in the major semi final.
There’s more than enough motivation there as well after falling short in last year’s decider.
The Casuals were in the box seat against MJR Electrics back in March but conceded a late try to see their dream slip away to the tune of 10-9.
On the flip side, Cobras have ground their way into the finals off the back of a negative percentage and did it tough with tight wins over Rock Solid Gear Wizards and Quolls – perhaps the preparation needed to topple The Casuals at the death.
