Turvey Park came from behind and then staved off a valiant Saints for their 8-5 win in Saturday’s A grade match at French Fields.

Pitchers Paris Hall and Tessa McGlynn were well on top early and it wasn’t until the bottom of the third innings that the first run was scored.
Saints’ Desi Calder was dropped in the outfield and came home ahead of a Kadison Hofert centre field home run.
This was followed by a match-winning innings from Turvey Park in the top of the fourth.
Amanda Gooden set the wheels in motion with a giant left field home run.
She was then followed across the plate by Paris Hall, Charli McNaughton, Kalee Gibbons and Sarah Carter after hits to McNaughton, Carter and Belinda Dennis, stretching the lead to 6-2.
In the bottom of both the fourth and fifth innings it was a case of ‘three up- three down’ for the Saints side while Turvey Park added a single in the top of the sixth.
The Saints were again shut out in the bottom of the sixth, before Turvey added another in the top of the seventh.
Dennis batted in Carter, taking the score to 8-2 with only one innings left for the Saints to try and ‘steal’ the game.
They made a good fist of it when the first four batters, Paula Potts, Pam Calder, Laura Harley and Gemma McGlynn all had safe hits, but only Potts, Harley and McGlynn scored, making the final result an 8-5 win to Turvey Park.
The softball competition will now go into the traditional Christmas vacation recess and resume on February 2.
