Wagga Police have now confirmed the death of the one punch attack victim.
It is believed he passed away in Wagga Base Hospital after sustaining substantial head injuries.
EARLIER:
A man has been left in a critical condition in Wagga base hospital following a ‘one punch’ attack in Junee early on Saturday morning..
“About 12.45am, police were called to a club on Broadway Street, Junee, following reports of an assault,” a NSW Police Force statement said.
“Officers from Riverina Police District arrived at the location and were speaking with a number of patrons when they were advised of an unconscious man lying on the footpath outside.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and treated the 58-year-old man before transporting him to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital where he remains with critical head injuries.
“Investigations are carried out by detectives from Riverina.”
Junee residents told The Daily Advertiser that the assault occurred outside the Junee Ex-Services Memorial Club near the venue’s car park.
Police had departed the scene as of late Saturday morning.
