Thursday’s torrential downpour, which followed significant rain on Wednesday night, cast a shadow over the deciders.
Wagga Touch Association secretary Juanita Bailey said they’re hopeful the games will go ahead provided there are no further falls.
“We’re reasonably confident,” Bailey said.
“If it doesn’t rain, council assured me we should be right – if the sun comes out and we get some drying weather.
“There’s no way we want to cancel it. It’s grand finals.”
The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 38mm of rain in Wagga in the 24 hours to Friday morning although some areas on the south side of the city reported double that in the last two days.
Further showers are a possibility according to the weather forecast.
Wagga Touch is hopeful they won't arrive and won’t make any definitive call on the games until as late as possible to give the day every opportunity to go ahead.
Games begin at 1pm and go through until 5pm at Jubilee Park touch fields.
