Smeeth has been struggling with a neck complaint and hasn’t bowled in a month.
However the left-arm paceman is a chance to take the ball against Kooringal Colts at Rawlings Park Turf on Saturday.
“It’s a possibility,” Smeeth said.
“I’m not sure yet as I strained some muscles in my neck and pain shots down my whole left arm.
“It’s been a bit problematic and it’s just a case of possibly resting it up until after Christmas.”
Smeeth has continued to bat with the problem, however he hasn’t been able to use his full repertoire of strokes due to the mystery ailment.
The Englishman is not too sure how he picked up the problem
“I think it might have been cricket but there was no defining moment where I knew that I done that,” Smeeth said.
“It was just there one morning so I couldn’t tell you when or where but I would assume cricket.”
Lake Albert are looking to respond to a loss to South Wagga and pick up some valuable points heading into the Christmas break.
The premiers sit in third, but are nine points adrift of leaders Wagga City, eight behind South Wagga.
However they are four clear of Colts.
“You want to get a win in the bank before the Christmas break,” Smeeth said.
“Colts beat us in the Twenty20 but we dropped Dave Bolton three or four times and he got 50, which was the difference, so we hope if we can take a chance off him it will go a long way to winning the game.”
Despite their ladder position Smeeth, who led the Bulls to the title last year, knows the team can perform better.
Particularly with the bat.
It’s something he’s looking to see improve, particularly his own performance.
“We’re not overly happy with the cricket we’ve played,” Smeeth said.
“Our batting has been way too inconsistent, but in a good sense we know we are still in the top three and know our best cricket is still to come.”
Lake Albert welcome back Jacson Sommerville, Danny Webber and Nic Skelly this week which should help shore up the batting order.
