Wagga trainer Gary Colvin sent the four-year-old for a spell on Thursday and will bring him back for a crack at the $150,000 Country Championships heat (1400m) at Albury in February.
Tully Toff, a $2500 purchase, made it three wins from four starts this preparation with another impressive victory at Wagga on Tuesday.
“It was a very good win,” Colvin said.
“He carried a bit of weight and was wide. You like to see them win like that.”
Tully Toff will enjoy a short break and then return for a campaign aimed at the Southern District heat of the Country Championships on February 23.
Colvin is confident the 1400m will not be an issue.
“The way he went on Tuesday, he raced wide and still hit the line, with a lot of weight. He just wants to settle, too, so he races like a horse that will get the trip,” he said.
Colvin will also have Forever Newyork headed towards the feature race after he was scratched from the event this year due to a foot issue.
Forever Newyork had his third trial this preparation on Wednesday at Wagga and will resume at Wagga on Ted Ryder Cup day, December 24.
