LAST column was on the opening of cod season and from all accounts there weren’t a hell of a lot of fish caught, the atrocious wind on the Sunday probably had a lot to do with it, it even put Mr Warby off the water.

(Why you would want to play “fast boats” on cod opening? I have no idea, but he may not be a fisherman and may not of known.)
I have to admit I didn’t venture to any waterways that weekend as it is usually very busy.
Going to mention the jet outboards again this weekend.
It’s a little bit different as I am going to say that I am a little disappointed in my 25hp jet outboard package – and that is because I sold the little beasty.
I will say that the new owner is extremely impressed with his purchase and now has the ability to go where other boats cannot as he is a fisherman and a duck hunter.
I did like that boat package, but as Buzz says - to infinity and beyond - so onto the next project.
I have an idea of what it will be so you will wait and see; an air boat keeps popping into my head and as much as I want to build one with a thumping V8, it would not be a practical fishing boat – or would it?
There have been a few cod caught in the impoundments but not as many reported in previous years.
Now, that could be that Blowering is open 12 months of the year now and people are fishing there more regularly.
We are not getting the condensed reports at cod opening, or it could be that the fish are seeing more lures and becoming a bit more cagey (even though fish are only supposed to have four minute memories – bit like the bloke writing this).
Burrinjuck didn’t have too many reports on lots of fish but there were a couple of quality fish reported.
A couple of mates ventured to Tantangara and came home with doughnuts but the water temperature was 19 degrees and this would have put the fish down as low as they could get.
Hume Weir has only been fair and the same with Mulwala. By far the best place to wet a line is the good old ‘Bidgee, upstream or downstream of Wagga, it’s fishing extremely good anywhere on bait and or lures.

THERE are less than 10 days till Christmas, it only seems like yesterday it was 2017, that’s how fast the year has gone.
As much as it hasn’t been the best of years, for a few reasons, and I would like to see the back of it, if you start wishing the years away, that’s exactly what will happen and all the things you were/are going to do or plan to do will fall by the way side.
What you have spent all your life working for will seem to be further away because you have run out of time or your time will be cut short.
So basically don’t wait till you “have more time” to take the kids fishing, go on that trip, make that air boat or whatever takes your fancy cos if you are not careful it will be 2020 before you know it and you will be another year older.
