Wagga Country Club took out the southern region championship in Yass on Sunday, defeating Wollongong Golf Club to take out the title.
The Wagga team defeated an ACT team to progress to the southern region final, where they beat Wollongong 4-2.
Wagga Country Club will now travel to Newcastle in January, where they will face the winners of the northern region in the state semi-finals.
The winner plays the victor of Sydney metro and western in the state final. The losers will play off for third.
The victorious Wagga Country Club team has so far consisted of Josie Currie, Hugo Currie, Max Jenkins, Ryley Watson, Will Johnson, Will Burkinshaw and Rory Aragon.
The Encourage Shield sees six golfers play individual handicap match play. There is a maximum handicap of 27 and minimum of seven.
Wagga Country Club first competed in the Encourage Shield in 2016, where they won the southern region.
They lost to ACT last year so were pleased to bounce back on Sunday.
