Wagga may be in the running for Taco Bell after it was announced today that the Tex-Mex food chain will be opening stores across Australia and New Zealand.
Two operators are set to roll out more than 110 outlets in the next five years.
New Zealand company Restaurant Brands has the rights to operate Taco Bell in NSW, the ACT and New Zealand.
A Restaurants Brands spokesperson said that while it was still too early to determine how many stores there will be in NSW and where they will be located, “Wagga is certainly large enough to be considered for a store in the longer term”.
“Stores will be progressively rolled out with a smaller number of ‘pilot stores’ in the first year or so,” the spokesperson said.
“[It] will be followed by an accelerating build programme over subsequent years.”
In Wagga, the main Mexican food outlets are Zambrero and Guzman Y Gomez, with the latter going on sale in October this year.
It will be the first time in 10 years that the fast-food chain will have a NSW presence.
Collins Foods will operate the food chain in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.
In November 2017, the first Taco Bell was opened in Annerly, Brisbane.
