Albury has shored up its back line strength in signing a centre from New Zealand.
Sabastian Rapana will arrive on the border next month to help add to the Thunder’s depth.
“He’s not a very big guy, but he’s got some pace,” president Rick O’Connell said.
“He’ll add that extra depth and we were probably a bit light on in the centres this year.”
Although only young, Rapana carries a strong reputation as a dangerous attacking player.
The Thunder have been one of the bigger movers throughout the Group Nine off-season.
They swooped early on former premiership player Ben Jeffery while adding Englishman Brad Nicholson and Bombala’s Luke Ingram, who was man of the match in their grand final win.
The Thunder missed out on playing finals after a season highlighted by narrow losses.
It will be captain-coach Adrian Purtell’s second season at the helm.
