Kylie and Michael Cashen, owners of Bidgee Strawberries and Cream, said they have run four open days and the feedback has been brilliant.
“It is still very new and we’ve been picking strawberries for our first season for six weeks,” Mrs Cashen said.
“We want to educate people and teach them how to respect the crops and appreciate our work.”
Mrs Cashen said not many people understand the process of hydroponics and many other farms tend to keep their processes tucked away, but they enjoy being able to teach others.
“Michael gets quite excited being able to share the whole hydroponics,” she said.
“They get to taste the different varieties and learn about the plants and how hydroponics feeding works.”
”Michael tells them it cost $70,000 to start and so it’s been a long time coming.”
Bidgee Strawberries and Cream will be running another picking and open day on Sunday and will be open every day during the school holidays, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
