At 9:30 on Thursday morning, the driver parked his vehicle near the water while he walked his dogs.
Upon returning to the parked car, he found a snake in the foot-well beside the accelerator.
In his attempts to evade the reptilian intruder, and secure his dogs, the car has rolled forward into the Tumut River.
It is understood that neither the driver nor the dogs sustained any injuries from either the snake or the rolling car.
But the vehicle is presently still at large.
“So police will be asking any fishermen who will be out this weekend, if they see any white Nissan Maximas in the Tumut River, contact emergency services,” said Detective Acting Inspector Phil Mulligan.
