Two people who were seen fleeing from the white Mazda CX3 are still at large.
It is alleged the car struck the motorbike after failing to give way and narrowly avoiding another vehicle at the intersection of Carrathool and Illilliwa Streets close to 8pm.
The impact threw the 20-year-old man from the bike. The car continued on and collided with the gutter in Curtain Street.
A number of witnesses saw the driver and a rear passenger get out and flee into Curtain Street.
The by-standers then contacted emergency services who arrived shortly after.
The rider was airlifted to St George’s Hospital early Thursday morning in a stable condition with a compound fracture to his right leg and spinal precautions.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by police, with investigations continuing.
Inspector Kim Traynor from Murrumbidgee Police District is calling on anyone who may have information to contact the police station on 6969 4299.
